PHILOSOPHY
To do anything well, some intuitive knowledge of the material at hand is required; this intuition is called talent.  However, talent alone, without knowledge and hard facts is not enough.  Talent does not need to be described; the facts do need to be set forth and that is the purpose of formal instruction.

The ability to play any musical instrument is accomplished by the concise application of logical and comprehensible musical concepts and techniques which attains amazing heights of expression when utilized in conjunction with a trained and imaginative talent.

We wish to afford to serious students of music these musical concepts and techniques which, coupled with the guidance of an experienced instructor, can train an individual to an artistic level of performance.

Instruction with Thom

My objective is to instruct guitar, voice, traditional theory and improvisation in a private or class setting.  This affords the student an environment of varied musical concepts and techniques, allowing them to develop a critical sense of music and its performance.
I offer guitar ensembles to perform, record and publish repertoire, which benefits artistic growth.

Guitar Ensemble:  A student must complete one year of private studies at the studio to participate in a guitar ensemble.

Ensembles are based upon one's ability and not one's age for placement.  Ensembles meet twice a month for one hour from September through June.

Students who want to participate must commit for the entire year.  There are no make-ups if a student misses a session.

Cancellations:  If you have a reason to cancel your appointment, you must call at least 24 hours in advance to reschedule.
*Note: We do have an answering machine and an e-mail, address. Please feel free to leave a message.  If you do not, you will be responsible for that lesson time.  All make-up lessons must be made up during the current month.  You cannot carry a lesson over into the next month.  It is the responsibility of the student to reschedule appointments.
